Charlene Wright, #44, RHP/Outfielder

Charlene is the consummate woman baseball player. Elected to the Women’s
Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999, Charlene’s long and distinguished career spans
four decades. She founded the Chicago Storm in 1997 and has played on many
teams across the nation. As a pitcher, Charlene dominates the game: she led
the Storm in 2000 with a 2.874 ERA in 63 1/3 innings; she gave up just 11
walks while striking out 57. She contributes with her bat as well, hitting
.400 last year in 55 plate appearances. |
Sue ‘Rookie’ Lukasik, #20, RHP/Outfielder
|
A versatile batter who can hit to all fields, Sue had an on-base percentage
of .458 last season. She was elected to the Women’s Baseball Hall of Fame
in 2000. In last year’s National Skills Competition, she placed 1st in Stationary
Hitting and 2nd in Throwing Home. Sue is the president of the American Women’s
Baseball Association. She has hit .466 over the last two years. |
Joni ‘Baby J’ Stegeman, #5, RHP/Shortstop

Joni led the Storm in 2000 in several categories during her first campaign
including batting average (.438), runs scored (23) and RBIs (18). Joni’s strong
arm allowed her to record 21 assists from the left side of the infield last
year. This year, Joni played with Team USA in the International World Series
in Toronto, returning to the states with two MVP awards. |
Peggy Sue ‘Killer’ Precup, #4, Infielder

Peggy Sue has been the defensive anchor for the Storm at 2nd base for
the past three years. She recorded 45 putouts and 28 assists last year. Killer
led the Storm in 2000 with 18 walks and was among the team leaders in runs
scored (21) and stolen bases (13). |
Amy ‘Deuce’ Thomas, #2, Catcher
|
Amy is the Storm’s durable catcher. She has caught 209 of the Storm’s
218 innings over the last two years, during which she has a fielding percentage
of .966 in 232 chances. Deuce placed in three events at the 2000 National
Skills Championships, including first place showings in Distance Throwing
and Infield Throwing and a second place finish in Stationary Hitting. She
hit .417 for the Storm in 2000 and drew 15 walks. |
Jennifer ‘Taz’ Hughes, #35, Outfielder
|
In her previous two years with the Storm, Taz earned her nickname by
racking up 62 stolen bases while being caught just 4 times. She tied for first
in Base Stealing and placed second in Base Running at the 2000 National Skills
Competition. Jenn took 4th in the Hitting Competition at the 2000 Women’s
World Series in Ft. Myers, FL. She has hit .400 over the past two years in
153 plate appearances. Defensively, Jenn recorded 4 assists from the outfield
in 2000. |
Jason Marlin, #1, Coach

Jason is the Storm’s animated head coach. He has led the Storm to a
22-14 overall record the last two years. He has thrown countless pitches in
batting practice. His aggressive base coaching style seems to say, "Send 'em
all, and let the umpires sort 'em out." |
